John Carr is writer, cartoonist, performance poet and stand-up comedian
As a writer John has had over 40 books published in 10 countries, mainly for children's literacy
programmes.
John currently produces a weekly cartoon for Straight Furrow, a major weekly newspaper for the rural sector in New Zealand.
In 2009 John won the "Poetry Idol" competition at the Auckland Readers and Writers Festival and came third in the same competition in 2010 and also won the Poetry Slam at the 2010 Going West Books and Writers Festival in Titirangi in the same year.
John is now does regular stand-up comedy performances at The Classic Comedy Bar in Queen Street Auckland, and other venues. In the 2011 International Comedy Festival in Auckland he and fellow comedian Tom Furniss sold out a 5 night season of their shaw Cold Duck and Tamagotchis.
